Images showing up blank
-
I’ve read all over the place regarding this. It appears it wants me to upgrade but I am in the testing phase and this seems to be an issue for people who pay for the service as well and I’m thinking, why should I upgrade if I can’t even upload simple photos. This image has an empty alt attribute, and every suggestable fix is to upgrade to fix it. Is that what has to happen because I’m not about to pay for a whole year for something that should work. And I am not above saying I don’t know everything or that I have missed something. So, at this point, my possible new business is now in your hands. Thank you in advance.

I also want to add that I am adding these photos from my mac and I have adjusted the image sizes.

I also have a free account and have this issue. I run two blogs publicly and one private blog. The private one is a concern, but not as much as the public ones. It’s affecting how some of the posts display as well as affecting the media library page itself. Is there an ETA as to when this will be fixed? There is no way I would ever consider paying for any service if this is how the unpaid service is going to behave now.

I’m having the same problem, or at least it sounds like the same problem.
I was looking through some of the older posts on my blog earlier this evening and discovered that the vast majority of images that accompany these old posts aren’t appearing anymore. Nor are the thumbnails for something like 99% of my stored images under the Media tab. The files themselves are still there, and if I select an image and click on the EDIT button, a preview appears in the ensuing window. But that’s it. In the blog posts themselves and on the Media page, there’s nothing visible.
This is definitely not a browser cache issue, as I’ve checked this with multiple browsers on multiple devices and the problem is present on all of them. It’s also a brand new issue; as recently as yesterday, this issue wasn’t present.
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on and what to do about this?
Thanks.

Same issue at photobookjournal.com
Many of our images are not showing up in older posts — we are paying for this, so when will this be fixed????
Our worldwide readership is asking: when will this be fixed?????

I have a paid site and I’ve had the same problem the past day or so (maybe longer). I haven’t changed anything, added new plug-ins, etc. and all the images showed fine before.

I have the same problem, started about 10-12 hrs. ago, not 100% sure. I’m on “Creator” Plan, but apparaently this has nothing to do with the problem, but who knows?
So, what’s going on:
1.) Some of my posts (some old, some new) no longer show the images in editor view, BUT the images seem to be displayed on page view. (Had it checked by friends on different devices & browsers, too)
2) with other pictures it’s the other way around: i see them in my editor, but they are nevertheless unavailable in actual page view
3) some pictures are simply not there, neither in edit nor page view.
Furthermore, the problem affects different pictures at different times since. Some reappear, or disappear again, so i suspected early it might be something on “their” side.Fittingly, the biggest mess seems to be the media library itself at the moment: I currently only see about 10-20% of my images displayed with thumbnail, the rest just per file name but otherwise blank; however, all image files are in fact there; and when i click an empty thumbnail and pick “edit picture”, indeed the picture is there; to make sure, I also just downloaded the whole library and “checked the loot” on my computer drive: all files/pics are valid.
Between the affected and not affected images, I can see no pattern emerging. Some smaller files (200-500K) are displayed, some are not. Some of my larger images (2-5MB) are displayed, some are not. Pngs, Jpegs, no matter. Uploaded first into library vs. copy/pasted into draft, I used both methods over time, but again, makes no difference in today’s issue. Finally, none of this was a problem until about 10-12 hrs ago, before, everything worked fine, so again: I don’t think it’s something on my end.
So, is there something going on right now, and I just should sit it out?

Update from my end. Problem seems to be solved, at least here: Library and posts are back in shape it seems. So everybody reading this might want to look into things on their ends, too, keeping fingers crossed for my fellow bloggers.
If this holds up, my thanks to whoever fixed it, but seriously: You need to communicate with your customers more. I’ve seen staff members walk about other threads here all the while this had been going on. A simple “We got some problem with XXXX, somebody is working on it, don’t panic, don’t pull your posts apart” would have sufficed.

Thank you sashathebee. It is indeed working for me as well. I guess I’m concerned because I don’t mind paying for a subscription and things sometimes will just happen, like this, but I’m hoping that this is a “sometimes” thing versus a “more often” thing. I think I will search the forum about wordpress reliability and go from there but thank you again. It’s indeed working. A Glitch in the Matrix.

Try turning off each plugin one at a time to see if one of them is the problem. Also, changing your website’s design to a basic one for a little while can show you if the issue is with the design you’re using. Doing this helped me fix a similar issue before.
