Images sidebar disappeared

  My images sidebar disappeared. Not the widget, but the separate column where the featured images from the posts are supposed to appear in a photo gallery. This is the Ideation and Intent theme and the site is Tackybottleopenermuseum.wordpress.com. It happened when I was deleting posts and rewriting them under my husband’s login, since we wanted his display name as the author (my display name refers to a different blog). The new posts appear fine, but no sidebar. I’m very new at this, and couldn’t find the answer anywhere else, so I appreciate your help.

  1) My guess is you inserted the images by selecting them from the media library (since they had already been uploaded to the blog when you created the posts you trashed). This won’t work: the Images sidebar will display an image if it’s attached to one of your latest posts; that is, if it has been uploaded from your computer via the Add Media tool of that post.

  2) Obviously you and your husband are both authors or administrators. So you didn’t have to delete and rewrite the posts: all you had to do was go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the post title, click Quick Edit, change the author, click Update.

  3) If you click on, say, “Hawaiian Girl”, you’ll see that the slug in the URL of the post is “hawaiian-girl-2”. The number shows that you haven’t really deleted the old posts, you have only sent them to Trash. So you don’t have to re-upload the images from your computer to the new posts as per 1 above. Better go to Posts > All Posts, Quick Edit the new posts to change their status to Draft, then click Trash and restore the old posts, change their author as per 2 above, then trash the drafts.

  Thanks for clarifying multiple areas of confusion. I started on the instructions per item 1, and re-uploaded the images, then deleted the earlier duplicates. Glad to know an alternative solution, too. It’s working now!
