Images Still Missing 5 Days After Contacting Support
-
Scores of my oldest images suddenly disappeared five days ago. I contacted Support and they asked for a link to a specific post. I immediately responded with a link. That was the last time I have heard anything from them. The images are still missing and I don’t know what to do. This is making me seriously consider moving my blog to my own server.

Already have. No reply yet. I just bought web hosting and am going to move to my own server. It’s more money, but when I figure in the cost of domain registration, forwarding, and CSS that I’m already paying, it isn’t much more.

I had a similar problem.
I made some changes to the css and tried the preview. Several images were missing. On investigating with Firebug I found that the location of the images was being changed from
http://bigdave44.files.wordpress.com/in the scriptto
http://bigdave44.com/resulting in them not being found.
At first sight it appears this may be a problem for those with their own domain name.
I re-edited the css and changed all the locations to
http://bigdave44.wordpress.com/files/now all is well!
BTW I copied the css into word, edited it and then copied it back – I had 41 references to change.
I don’t know if this is the same problem, but it may help.

I’ve just noticed that the saved css has gone back to
http://bigdave44.files.wordpress.comso now I’m more confused than I was before. To summarise, if the css contains the files.wordpress version, the preview fails.
If I replace files.wordpress with the other version, the preview works and the css is modified when saved.
Can anyone explain?
When I have time I will submit to support.
