Images turning red on upload

  Up until now I have found one or two images display red thumbnails, but when you view the images it is OK. Today after uploading some images they are red in the view as well. (and in the carousel)

  An earlier month has a few red images in the thumbnails and some in the carousel but not all of them by any means.

  The original of the first one above is not red ( https://dl.dropbox.com/u/17582872/LA08.GS.00.BHZ.2013.9_0015.png ) and this seems to be happening on the upload. It is not consistent either as some images of the same type uploaded today are not doing this:

  Any ideas how to stop this?
