Images will not post as a regular post OR Sticky Post. Help?

I just went through the tutorial on adding images from the photo gallery into a post. Still, when finished (but not yet published), when I select the Preview button, I’m still seeing my static front page image and not my new post which was also toggled as a Sticky Post. What am I doing wrong?

Just to be sure, what do you want to display on your front page? The current about page, or a list of recent posts, or what?

I was hoping to have a static front page with one of my signature photographs there and have pulldown tabs for different things in the main menu showing up on the front page (a pulldown for different writings; photos and subcategories; one for music and subcats; one for recipes with subcats). I’m having trouble with getting things to link to those tabs and categories.

If you want a static front page you’ll have to create a page, not a post. Adding an image to a page works exactly as adding it to a post.

I’d suggest you do still create a second page as well that contains all your posts, as described in the support doc.
To make your posts show up under the different menus, go to appearance > Menus. In the sidebar you will see the option to add pages, posts, categories, etc. Note that you will only be able to create category pages in the menu if the category already exists on your blog.

Well, I think I have a lot of that set up but you know, when your new to something, things have a way of getting away from us. I’ll check and get back. Thanks for responding! I really appreciate it. I’m a retired IT person from the BIG PICTURE side of things. I’ve not had to drill down and do this kind of thing so its a new avenue I’m exploring. Things certainly have changed! All good and interesting and I’m learning. Stand by…..
