Images With Comments
-
Our club may start using WordPress as our new website because it allows us to dynamically update content very quickly.
The only complain we have is that users cannot submit images with comments. We want this because a few areas of the site will be for events or member for sale. in both cases it would be great if an admin can create a page and then the members submit comments that contain images.
Could this feature be added?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
The main reason images cannot be put in comments, is that if a commenter puts an image in that is too wide, it will break your blog.
You users can put links to images in their comments though.

I guess that would be a good suggestion to add, automatic resizing of images on display using CSS.
User uploads 1024×768 image, site loads and CSS resizes to column size of xxx and boom, not too big anymore.
Or, even just shows it as a thumbnail that can be clicked on for full image.
Seems easy enough for WordPress to integrate.
The links to images is a good alternative except in the case of what we are doing it’s a hassle to have separate image hosting for guys that may not be computer whizzes.

The last thing I would welcome is the ability for the spammers and scammers to post images in comments submitted to my blog.
-
They would still need to be approved to be visible just like normal comments.
@1tess, looks like we can do something like that. Submit to the email address and we will post for them. Was just hoping they could to make it easy.

@1tess,
You, as the admin of your blog, can insert images into comments
Thanks for that information! The last time I tried it (which was years ago), it didn’t work (I was using the theme Freshy) and I was infuriated. I mean, there I saw the img tab, but it didn’t produce an image.Cool that it functions now.

I have checked the support documentation a couple of times now and have even used this feature myself but I can’t locate a support documentation entry for it. Maybe there is one and I overlooked it. If not, then I’m thinking that the support documentation would be enhanced if Staff an entry the fact that images can also be inserted by Admins into comments.
Staff Please consider including a support documentation entry for Admins being able to insert images into comments. Thanks, in advance.

I think the gigya shortcodes should all work.
I don’t think the wordpress slideshow or gallery shortcodes will work because they rely on pictures attached to a post. Don’t know, have not tried it.

I have known about this for some time now and have used it myself. I sure hope Staff see my request to update the support documentation. I’m a little worried that my request may get lost in the small talk. :)

~~~ wave to timethief:
Small talk? Maybe, but properly tagged as ‘images in comments’ and ‘animated gifs in comments’ the discussion is not useless—especially during its 15 minutes of fame at the top of the forums. (later in searches)
And you are right, someone should contact support directly.
Nope, won’t work in the forum. However, it does work on the blogs.
Check out comment #26 from this post.
Darn it. I mean comment number 27. I don’t know if people that are not the owner of the blog can add pictures, but I can.
