Hi larryemarshall,
Do you mean that once you click Select Files, the box that comes up where you can select the pictures on your computer, doesn’t show the folder where your pictures are?
If so do you know where the folder is on your computer that has your pictures?
In the box that comes up you would need to navigate to where the pictures are stored on your computer.
-
The box no longer comes up. It used to – most of my posts have at least one image sometimes two. But now it no longer comes up. Happens on all three of my blogs. I’ve deleted all temp files, cookies, and run a defragmentation on my disk. Started up again and I can’t add an image from disk. I can add an image to a new test post from images already in my media library for the blog, but can not add any new ones because the standard Windows Insert picture dialog box does not come up anymore.

Ok thanks. If you can provide me a bit more info about your system I’m sure we can figure this out.
What browser, including version, are you using?
What type of device?
What operating system? If you’re not sure you can check it out here. https://www.whatismybrowser.com/
Info from the Web Browsers Capabilities from that page would be helpful as well.
Have you tried a different browser to see if it works?
Thanks.

Using a Panasonic TuffBook CF300. Windows Vist Business Version 6 Build 602 Service Pack 2. Available physical memory 3,135,096 kb. Using IE 9.0.29 I’ve all Microsoft products since around 1982 with MS-DOS 4.0 and started with Windows 3.11 and IE since it was an add-on in Plus!for Windows 95. Don’t have room on machine to download anything else as I am running Visual Studio 10 and Office 10.

Thanks for the info.
I know you said you’ve cleared temp files and cookies, there are some others troubleshooting steps on this page that could likely help.I would look at the force refresh section for sure and if possible I would recommend the latest version of Internet Explorer and flash player as well.

Well, I tried to create a new page. When I went to Insert Image I noticed the X in the upper right corner had a blue box around it and as my cursor went over the Select File box on the bottom left of my screen I got a message ‘www.larryemarshall.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php#’ After a forced refresh Ctrl-F5 I got the message ‘www.larryemarshall.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?pst169&action=edit’. But still did not allow me to see the Windows Insert picture dialog which shows in at least 5 other programs I tested for. Since it happened to all three blogs at the same time I have to believe it is due to some setting I must have changed without realizing it when I was trying to add make my avatar the same for all three blogs. I just can’t figure out where in the wordpress.com blog features or security, etc that it might have been.
-
I also added about 32 images on separate posts to one of my blogs the other day with a brief description of them and the Facebook page and date that I shared it from.
I wonder if this caused WordPress to put a block on my uploading of images?
-
I’m suspecting your browser might be obsolete. The latest IE is 11; is that what you’re running?
Also, are you making posts from the dashboard Posts->Add New page or from the New Post button? The New Post button is interfering with the uploading of images for many people right now.
-
I’m running IE 9.0.29. I’ve had no problems with uploading images prior to this. I’ve tried it both ways- same result, no Windows Insert Picture box. It happened a couple days after I uploaded all the images at once to oneblog and a couple of images to another blog. I just wish that WordPress people monitored this forum, because know it seems like it is based on them. Even in facebook when I post and insert a picture no problem. Using Excel, Word, OneNote any other program I can get the standard Windows Insert Picture dialog box- just not in WordPress ANYMORE. Used to, but not now.

1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ which are the ones WordPress.com supports please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/

WordPress staff are in the forums all the time. I’ll tag this thread to bring it to their attention.

As raincoaster pointed out try creating new posts on your own blog’s dashboard at http://larrythecontrarian.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
Dashboard > Posts > Add New -
IE 9 is known to be a problem with WordPress.com’s latest updates. Update your browser. It’s not safe anymore either.
-
IE 9 is the latest version for Windows Vista. I am not going to upgrade my operating system just to get IE 11. And did WordPress just now in the past week upgrade their systems so that IE9 no longer is supported. Like I’ve said up until a couple of days ago I could create posts – by any method – and add images. Now I can’t.
-
I keep Norton 360 updated as well as always approve the automatic Windows updates. I can insert images into any program that I have tested. I run approximately 140 other programs on my system (about 15) used daily another 10 weekly and the rest are just there when I need them. No problems with them. I was able to post images a week ago, can’t now so it seems that it is a WordPress problem. Have they blocked me from posting or DID they change their program and do not backward support other operating systems and browsers?

@larryemarshall
Did you read and try what I posted above at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/images-wont-load-for-post?replies=18#post-1987457 ?Did you try creating new posts on your own blog’s dashboard at http://larrythecontrarian.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
Dashboard > Posts > Add New ? -
I’ve read everything that anyone has posted and tried all of them. Found a workaround- hover over the name of the blog with the blog being up and running. Select NEW then select Media. Then select the written underlined in blue browser upload. Then my favorite Windows dialog box appears (the same one that used to appear in the normal process). Then click on upload and it will go into the media librafy. Then write the post and add the image from the media library instead of Upload image. I can learn to live with it.
