Images won't upload into Media Library?

Images won’t upload correctly into Media Library. They end up grey with a small picture image in the middle. I have tried clearing caches, re-uploading them and turning my computer off and on. I have uploaded many images the same size in the same way before and not had difficulties before. I have purchased extra space so there is plenty of room. If I insert them into my post they show up but the dimensions are wrong, they’ve normally been stretched up with. How can I fix this?
