Imbalance 2 Columns
-
how do i make imbalance 2 run four column format across the top?
will that feature work with page and posts? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
You mean the header area? Column one is the blog title and tagline; you edit them in Settings > General. Column four is for widgets; you add them in Appearance > Widgets. Columns two and three are for two menus; you create and load them in Appearance > Menus – instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/And please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here. Or, better, make your username link to your blog (Users > Personal Settings: scroll down to Account Details, paste blog URL in the Website field, click Save Changes).

THANKS!
i’ll give that a try.
also, i’ll provide the url/user info requested in the future… -
hi! do i need a wordpress upgrade in order for imbalance 2 features to work properly? i love the four column fluid grid format, and i cannot seem to get it to function as such on the home page. any pointers?
-
Hi debbiedavismuffins. You do not need to purchase any upgrades in order to take advantage of Imbalance 2’s built-in features. I only see two posts on the site that’s associated with your username at the moment, so after you’ve added more posts (I also recommend adding featured images) to your blog, check back with us and we’ll take a look at any potential problems with your blog. Thanks a lot.

If you don’t have any posts then how can the theme provide four columns or indeed any columns of non-existent posts? -
No you don’t need an upgrade. First, you haven’t published any posts yet, so the columns are empty. Second, the fluid layout isn’t 4 columns, it’s as many columns as can fit in your browser window (will change if you drag it to make it narrower, will be different if you have a high or a low resolution screen).

got it! i have not published anything yet; just set up dummy text and posts. so, if i understand you correctly, in order for my posts to appear in a grid on the homepage, i need to publish the posts? — when i click ‘preview’ it only shows single post. i read on another site to use a widget for 4th column, and menu for 1-3 columns. should i 86 that input? thank you!!

@debbiedavismuffins
The answer is found here:Featured Posts
The theme optionally allows you to promote sticky posts as featured posts and display them below a post in single view. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/imbalance2/With custom header images, you can display your own photo on your blog’s page headers. Featured images allow for even greater customization, giving you the option to display unique custom header images for specific posts and pages. http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

Imbalance 2 displays the beginning of each post on the main page. As in all themes that display post beginnings, all HTML tags are stripped out; so no links, no formatted text, and no regularly inserted images. To display images on the front page, you need to set a featured image to each post, or copypaste content (including image code) from the HTML editor to the Excerpt module. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/images-not-displayed-in-new-theme?replies=19#post-763851

figured out how to make images appear. how do i get images to be fluid, as they appear on imbalance 2 demo? different sizes; not symmetrically aligned. where can i find that information? thank you!
-
Are you referring to the way some of the images on the Imbalance 2 demo are vertical? The featured images on the front page are all cropped to a width of 210 pixels, and the height is set to whatever is proportional with that width. So, to vary the image heights, use a mix of both horizontal and vertical featured images.

i’m posting this question here as well because i think it applies,
having trouble with the column 3 area of my header as well — if, from reading the threads i’m correct, “Columns two and three are for two menus; you create and load them in Appearance > Menus – instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ ,
but i still see no examples for applying that third column? which is why i put some of my future categories in the fourth
this is my link: http://blueglasswindows.wordpress.com/
trying to get the header area to look even across w/o CSS, any help would be greatly appreciated thanx -
I am going crazy here due to lack of technical understanding. This is my test site http://testwhiskerstails.wordpress.com.
I cannot seem to set up 4 columns like this site http://kerrymurrayphotography.wordpress.com/ to show our rescue pets.
Once I learn how to do this imbalance 2, I have to import to Dreamhost some how (DHost gave us a free hosting for our nonprofit).
Can someone help me? I have read several links on this page and the more I read, the more I get confused. Maybe, senior moments kick in.
