Imbed Media Player Problem
-
That would seem to indicate that this might be a WordPress.com-related problem. I’ve passed this on to other members of the team for a deeper look. I’ll let you know what we find out!

Ack Ron! I’m really sorry. I sent you a link that automatically downloads the file to your computer. I mean to send you here:
Last test – I promise! Can you let me know if you can play the file at that link?

Hi jeremey,
This URL yields no question marks. It leads to a page with a media player on a white page entitled “mattmullenweg-interview.” The media player works perfectly.

Thanks Ron! We’re still investigating this to see what could be causing these issues in Safari. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more!

Hi Ron,
Can you go through the links on your Tunes page and make sure the file URLs start with http instead of https? For example, your first file reads like this:
[audio m4a="https://ronaldrogers.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/07-i-see-your-face-before-me.m4a"][/audio]Can you change it to this?
[audio m4a="http://ronaldrogers.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/07-i-see-your-face-before-me.m4a"][/audio]Then, can you try to play the file to see if you receive the same error?
-
Hello Jeremey,
I got rid of all “https,” but unfortunately, I’m still receiving the same “error” of “NaN” on most of the songs I try to play the first time. When I refresh the page, then more play on the first try. Then, when I keep trying and trying, some play, but leave the “NaN” at the end of the bar.
Thanks for not giving up.

Jeremy,
By the way, the same thing happens with the songs on this page: http://r2blog.com/erikgrogers-com/erik-rogers-and-the-secret-cajun-band-music/
I thought you would want to know this, as well.

Hi Ron,
We’ve taken a deep look at this, and it looks like this is an issue with the specific encoding applied to m4a files that Safari doesn’t like. We tested several patches and different file conversions, but each caused an issue in Chrome or Firefox (which isn’t ideal).
For right now, the best option will be to convert your m4a files to mp3 and reupload. I really apologize there isn’t a better solution at the moment. Can you give this a try and let me know if it helps to resolve the issue on your side?

Hello Jeremey,
Thanks for all of your effort(s), but with all files now converted to mp3, I still have the problem. By the way, 6 out of the 11 songs were already in mp3 format.
Also, I’m running the newest system (OX 10.10 Yosemite) on my Mac and I’m using version 8.0 for Safari. Still having the same problem. :-(

Hi Jeremey,
Tonight (Oct. 23) all of the songs on the “Tunes page” <http://r2blog.com/r2s-tunes/> worked as they should, but the songs on <http://r2blog.com/erikgrogers-com/erik-rogers-and-the-secret-cajun-band-music/> didn’t work. Did you do something with the media players on the “Tunes page?” Both pages have uploads that are all mp3’s.

Unfortunately, we haven’t made any adjustments to your page that I”m aware of. I wish we had though as we would be closer to a solution! We’re still digging. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more!
