Imbedded YouTube playlists stopped working
-
I have been using WordPress for many years. Some of my posts include imbedded YouTube playlists, linking to my own playlists on YouTube (privacy set to public, imbedding allowed). Until recently they worked perfectly, but now the have stopped working. Instead of the playlist they just display the first video only. I have not changed any of the code and as I said before they had been working for a long time, years in some cases. I thought it might just be a temporary bug, but it has been like this for at least a week now, and I have no idea what the problem is.

YouTube has updated its embedded player UI as of March 2026, changing how playlists appear and function. The new design features a “More videos” shortcut, moves controls, and adds a “copy link” button, which has drawn criticism for reduced accessibility compared to previous versions. Embedded playlists may now display differently, often focusing on a “More Videos” navigation rather than traditional list views.

Thanks, so the problem is with YouTube’s side. Do you know what I can do to make my playlists work again?

NB The “More Videos” button just displays a random selection of videos, nothing to do with my playlist.

That’s a shame, but at least I understand what the problem is now. Thanks for your help.
