Imbedding Yahoo Video
-
Help, I have a page on which I’d like to imbed news stories and even though the code is available to me on the Yahoo news site, but I can’t seem to get it to imbed.
-
No, you won’t be able to. WordPress.com blogs have restrictions on what can and can’t be embedded, for security reasons. Here is the FAQ search for “embeds” which should clarify what you can and can’t put in a post. You should be able to put the Yahoo video in a Vodpod widget in the sidebar, though.

Ad well as in a post. You can embed a Yahoo video in a regular post if you have the Vod:Pod button installed and register yourself as a user at their site.

The FAQs are out of date. Since Vod:Pod upgraded their WordPress features from just widget embeds to both widget and post embeds, all sorts of videos from all sort of sites can be embedded. And not just that. Slideshows, documents, games, live stream brodcasting and what have we.

I see now I’ll have to read up on vodpod. I’m disappointed that I can’t embed video from Veoh (which is now in the top Ten of video sites!).

Veoh embeds perfectly fine. Install and use Vod:Pod button and you can have Veoh videos embedded in pages, posts and the Vod:pod vidget.

OK, I’m all set up. I’ve found the vodpod Firefox plug-in (over at vodpod) and have successfully embedded a test Veoh video in my blog.
Let me just shout: THIS IS FREAKIN GREAT!!
