Hello Support:
I like the upgrade from the free level.
Now, how can I make this an income producing blog where I can advertise my work as a published author and my future work to be published? I am currently writing my third suspense novel. I would also like to sell products from Amazon or other vendors. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no blogger initiated advertising allowed. Quoting macmanx (WordAds Staff):
WordAds is currently the only advertising program at WordPress.com:
http://wordads.co/Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/Regarding your WordAds application, our advertising partners do have a minimum traffic threshold. Looking at your page views, it’s not possible to earn meaningful earnings given your traffic levels. A site generally needs thousands of page views each month to earn meaningful earnings. As your traffic grows we will continue to apply to get ads activated.
For now, I recommend reading this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/
I want to strongly emphasize sharing your blog with your friends and family. If they like it, they’ll share it with their friends, and so on.
Please note that you can always contact the WordAds team directly via http://wordads.co/contact/
If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:

“Regarding your WordAds application . . . ” They haven’t applied for WordAds.

Thanks. I guess I have too many copy and pastes and have not organized them well enough … sigh … another addition for my To Do list.

Hey guys, thanks.
I was wondering about the custom menu when I first saw it.
Yes, I do have an author page for each of my books on my publisher’s site. Since I receive better royalties with BookLocker.com, I like to send my readers there. But now their business is changing like our economy and I was exploring some ideas with this blog version. I’ll check out the links you gave me and see how far I can go at this level. -
