Impending Twitter Widget Changes

  I’m a bit mystified about the upcoming twitter widget changes. Right now my twitter feed is working fine for my blog.

  What do I have to do to ensure it will continue to do so?

  This is what I’ve got in settings:

  Hi there, a bit curious myself, what Twitter widget changes are you referencing? I don’t believe there are any planned.

  Twitter originally announced this back in March that the widget would be deprecated by July 27th. Now they’ve extended deadlines until August 16th. There’s a sticky on top of the earlier announcement on this page https://twittercommunity.com/t/deprecating-widget-settings/102295

  Hi there,

  Our development team has already updated the Twitter Timeline Wiget on WordPress.com. You’ll find out most up to date documentation on the widget here:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/

  As for what has changed, the Twitter Timeline Wiget will no longer support searching for tweets based on hashtags or searches. Instead, it can be used to show a stream of tweets from a single username.

  If you are using the widget with a widget-id from Twitter to display a search or hashtag you’ll want to update the widget to display a Twitter username or remove it before July 26th. Otherwise, site admins will see a message about the change and no tweets will be displayed.

  Thanks all. I was only notified in my email about the last message. But I appreciate everyone’s input. I believe I now have enuf info to figure out what I want. 😊
