Implementing domain to site built in wordpress

  Hello, we built a new development site to replace our outdated one. We have completed the developmental build and have it approved for launch. I am worried about how to best replace /redirect the site to point toward our existing domain. Can you assist me with choosing the best course of action for completing this? We are not yet prepared to go live, but I would like to get ahead of the learning procedure to ensure a streamlined transition.
