Implications of switching to a domain I own
-
Dear team of WordPress, I have created a webpage with a free account. Now, I would like to change to another domain that I already own. In this context, several questions arise:
a) Is it possible to continue using a free account after having brought in my own domain name? Is there any obligation to switch to a business account at any given time with this kind of arrangement?
b) Do I have to manually change all of the URLs that I used to link a button with another WordPress page or does switching domain names imply that such changes are made automatically to the webpage?
c) Is there an option to indicate a specific email address (that is different from the one that I used to set up the WordPress webpage) that the contact form refers to?
Many thanks for your help.
Wishing you a great Christmas holiday -
Hi there,
a) Is it possible to continue using a free account after having brought in my own domain name? Is there any obligation to switch to a business account at any given time with this kind of arrangement?
To be able to use your domain as the primary address for your WordPress.com site you’ll need to upgrade to one of our plans.
b) Do I have to manually change all of the URLs that I used to link a button with another WordPress page or does switching domain names imply that such changes are made automatically to the webpage?
No. All that is done automatically. All the traffic from the free .wordpress.com address will be redirected to your custom domain.
c) Is there an option to indicate a specific email address (that is different from the one that I used to set up the WordPress webpage) that the contact form refers to?
Yes, that’s possible. You can use any other email address. You can specify the address when you insert the Contact Form block.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
