import

In order to import from Squarespace, I need to create a domain on WP. The domain name I currently own is katnoonan.com. Can I create the same name on WP? I would probably start on WP.org until I get everything set up and switch my domain pointer.
    Thanks

I imported from Squarespace today per the instructions. Only about 5 of the pages imported, none of my gallery pages.
And the formatting of what was imported was so squonky that it would probably be easier to build from scratch and would definitely be easier to stay with squarespace – with whom I am not very satisfied.

  • Hello –

Yes, you can use your domain here at WordPress.com. This is how you’ll connect it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/connect-existing-domain/

Tell me more about this. Which steps did you use? I’m not sure if you imported this to WordPress.com or an open source WordPress installation.

It’s important to know that on WordPress.com our team does the heavy lifting needed for your project to be successful. These are items like updates, back ups, security, spam filtering, seo, ssl, lightning fast dns and hosting optimization, mobile optimization, and much more! When running a stand alone WordPress installation you’ll need to learn how to manage all of that on your own.

We will be able to host your store component as well, which I see on the current project under Gallery here https://www.katnoonan.com/store. There’s a few different ways to utilize commerce on our managed environment at WordPress.com. Take a look at those options and let us know what questions you have.

  • Hi there,

Firstly I’m really digging the artworks on your site, the mark making on display there is really fantastic! :)

In taking a closer look noticed that your page content appears to have been imported (About, Gallery, FAQ, etc.) When I compare what is listed on this end to the links shown in the menu on katnoonan.com. Are you referring to the products you have listed on your site as well?

If so then you can import that content by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-squarespace/#step-5-transfer-squarespace-ecommerce-to-woocommerce

Please note that we do have ecommerce functionality installed by default on WordPress.com, so it is not an option on our free sites. However, you can activate the WooCommerce plugin on your site (requires upgrade) which will allow you to move your store over as well. You can activate WooCommerce here: https://wordpress.com/plugins/woocommerce

If I had that wrong, and you are referring to other pages you have on your site that may not be visible in the current site menu, but are missing pages (and not product) please let us know and we are happy to take a closer look
