    Hi there,

To make sure that everything is formatted correctly to successfully import your blog, can you try the following steps:

First, export the content from your Yahoo Blog in the Movable Type export format. This Yahoo support page has more details: http://blog.yahoo.com/yblog_hk/articles/1350869

Once you have downloaded all of your data from Yahoo, you can then import it into your WordPress.com account. From your WordPress.com dashboard, choose Tools → Import

Select Movable Type as your format and follow step-by-step the instructions on the screen.

Please let me know if that works for you! If your content still doesn’t import correctly, please let me know and we can look into it for you.

    Hey there pemimpikreatif,

Are you also trying to import from a Yahoo blog? Let me know what’s been going on with your export/import process and we’ll try to get it figured out :)

I finally imported my yahoo blog into wordpress, but with no photos (links dead).
Then I tried again, and this time successfully with both photos and post, however, all post are duplicated. One version is without photo (imported first time) and one version with photos (imported second time).
    Would you please help?

I’m glad to hear you finally got the Yahoo import working! Because of the amount of content on your blog it would be really impractical to go through manually and remove the duplicate posts, so I would suggest emptying the blog to start with a clean slate. This way you can re-import the Yahoo file and not worry about duplicates.

First I’d recommend exporting your blog so you have a backup file of the site in it’s current state saved to your computer just in case. You can see how to do that here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

Then, you can find the step-by-step for emptying your site here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

And lastly, you can import the Yahoo blog again, and because you’re starting fresh you shouldn’t have to worry about any duplicates :)

Let me know how this works out or if you need a hand at any step of the process!

    Hi David

I wish I could do as suggested. But wordpress now cover my blog from 2006 – 2013, while my Yahoo blog only contents post from 2009-2013. If I start again, I’ll lost those from 2006-2009.

    Hey there,

I imagine then that the duplicate posts only cover the 2009-2013 period? If that’s correct, you could start by exporting only the Posts and Pages between 2006-2009.

On the Export page in Dashboard you’ll see the option for “All Content” or individual Posts and Pages, but you can also select a specific range of dates down to the month. For example:
    http://cl.ly/image/3B0u1c1P3g3T

This would then give you two files to re-import after you empty your site: The ’06-’09 WordPress content and the ’09-’13 Yahoo content.

You can then import them both, and because the dates don’t overlap, you’ll avoid any duplicates. I would still recommend doing a full export to begin with just in case you run into an issue, but this should solve the problem for you.

Please let me know if you have some more questions :)

    hi david

can you help me empty the site? I clicked tools>delete site>empty my site of all content
it directed me to “contact support”, a troubleshooting page. I don’t know what to do next..
I have already exported my whole blog and blog between 2006-2009 separately.
