Import blog from backed up files

    Hi,

    My problem is the following. I had a wordpress.org blog at christofmblog.shadowhost.pw. Unfortunately it’s not available anymore, I can’t access it. However, I could export my databases and download my blog’s files via ftp.

    I would like to move my blog to wordpress.com. But it seems to me, that the only way to do that is by exporting the blog in the proper wordpress export format in the dashboard, and then import it. That I can’t do, for the reason above.

    If you know a way how I could move to wordpress.com or convert my files into a wordpress export file, please help.

    I think they’ll be better able to answer your question on the WordPress.org support forum. Most of us on this forum really only knows how the software here works as described in the support docs you’ve already consulted.

    You can find the wordpress.org support forum here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

    Someone here might give you an answer in the meantime, but try asking over there as well.
