import blog from different site?

Hi. Can I import a previous blog from Travelpod in to wordpress? When I deleted a wordpress blog recently it gave me the option to ‘transfer content to a different host site’ – so I wondered if I could import content/ entire blog? Thanks

Is the blogging platform that you have the export file of your content from coming from one of those included here? http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

PS – if you can export to a platform that can be imported into WordPress.COM you might be able to get the shuffle step and save some typing – some other people have been able to move from sites that did not have a direct export then import to WordPress.com by transferring through a third site.

You domain belongs to you for as long as you keep paying for renewing it annually. All you need to do is Update the Nameservers to point them to your new site. The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
