I recently move from Blogger to Blogger Beta one Blog. Now I would like to import this Blogger Beta into my WordPress. I have tried to but it doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

A quick search has revealed a few threads that may help:

I have never used blogger (or beta) so can’t advise any further I’m afraid.

We do not have an importer for Blogger beta.

Because it’s beta they can change the code any time they want – it would be impossible to keep up with and we could break things. If they stop their changes we could consider a new importer but until then it’s just not feasible to create code . Sorry.

Anycase, thanks a lot Cornell and podz.

What can I do then? no solution??!!

    Please give me an idea!!

Recently two others asked the same question. One of them ended up copying and pasting. I’m not clear what the other one did.

What I a pity!! Because i don’t wanna lose all the comments of my friends and so on!

Guys of WordPress… no solution at all??!! just I should give up??

    Thanks again

I wonder if it’s possible to revert my template back to regular blogger (since that IS an option), and then upload it?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m sorry but I don’t have an answer for that. Perhaps someone else will.

drmike offers a solution in this thread. Basically, you import the Blogger RSS into another WP blog and then export it in wordpress export format.

I don’t know why we don’t have the option to import RSS here; my theory has always been that it’s to prevent people filling their blogs with other people’s feeds, but there’s never been official confirmation of that.

I have no clue how to bump up my RSS feed. I saw that post earlier.

I’m trying drmike’s solution, but I can’t figure out how to import my blogger RSS feed. How do I get the file to upload?

On your wordpress.com blog go to -> dashboard -> options -> reading -> and look for the following
    Syndication Feeds
    Show the most recent: __posts
    For each article, show:
    Full text __
    Summary __

When I exported my blog I set the feeds to match the number of the total number of posts I had to export. I then changed the “for each article” choice to “full” instead of summary.
Somewhere in the admin section of your Blogger blog there will be a similar spot where you too can “bump” the feed settings.

I wrote a blog post on the subject of importing from one wordpress.com blog to another. britgirl and sunburntkamel’s comments led to it covering how to import to and from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Maybe it will contain information that will be useful and maybe not. This is the link.

TT, they’re trying to bump their Blogger RSS feed, not their wp one.

    @drmike
Yes, I know and that’s why I said:

Somewhere in the admin section of your Blogger blog there will be a similar spot where you too can “bump” the feed settings.

I feel like getting a Blogger account just so I can get into the backend of a blog there and find the place they can use to “bump”. It’s got to be there somewhere.

    Edit: drmike
If you think my post above is misleading then please delete it. It’s too old now for me to do it.

I can’t find any place in Blogger to set the number of posts for the RSS feed; I’ve looked all over, but they don’t seem to give you access to that setting. But I also don’t know how to get my Blogger RSS feed to upload into daria.be. I don’t understand the process (woefully ignorant, I know) of uploading my Blogger blog’s RSS feed. Thanks for the response TT — I’ll check out your links.

    @ofbookofsand
I feel for you and apologize in advance that I can’t really be of much help … sorry. :(

It’s possible that the Blogger folks don’t provide access to this because they don’t want to encourage any bloggers to leave. I wouldn’t be surprised. I escaped from Blogger and I have some choice off colour words and phrases to describe their abysmal lack of support. Now they have added another bureaucratic level of having to have a google account, all I can say to them that can be said on a public forum is Bah Humbug.

Thanks TT — I think I’m leaving Blogger whether I can bring my archives to WP or not. I might just spend a while cutting and pasting. These forums have been great.

I had to cut and paste my entries from Blogger. Other bloggers have cut and pasted hundreds of entries by doing them on the 10 moved per day plan, etc. Some have simply abandoned their’s. BTW – welcome to wordpress. :)

Hi, I´m new to wp and really hope on a solution for the “new-blogger-import-problem”.

I thought about it and … isn´t it possible that – now that blogger isn´t in beta anymore – there will be a new import tool to move the blogger blogs to wordpress, even from a google-account?

Hope dies last, you know. ;)

I have recently migrated my (New) Blogger blog to WordPress (under my own domain). This WordPress thread (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/83877) referred me to this useful link http://www.romantika.name/v2/2006/12/19/import-blogger-beta-to-wordpress/
which allowed me to transfer the majority (222 out of 257) of my posts, complete with photos and comments. Author links in the comments did not transfer so I am gradually changing these manually. At least WordPress allows you to more effectievly manage and edit your comments!
