Import comments into godaddy blog from wordpress blog?

    At my godaddy.com blog I am trying to import the entries and comments from my wordpress blogg. At the godaddy site, when one indicates that he wishes to import from another blog, a new screen comes up asking you to select the source from which you wish to import, and one of the choices is wordpress. When you choose “wordpress” a window comes up with four fields you are to fill out.

    They are

    (1) Server/Hostname:

    (2) Database:

    (3) Password:

    (4) Table Prefix: the default of “wp_” is given, but can be changed.

    I assume that the Password refers to my login password for my wordpress blog.

    I assume the server is the server for wordpress. Go daddy lists four servers for wordpress, and I have attempted all four

    For Database I tried the address of my blog at wordpress: “www.flipsideshow.wordpress.com”

    No matter what I entered in these four fields, I got an error message telling me the data I had entered was not correct. Any ideas what I need to be entering into each of these four fields. Godaddy support indicated I would have to get that info from wordpress.

    Don, it would be easiest to use the built in import/export functions of wordpress for this for sure. In the admin of your wordpress.com blog go to your Admin => Manage => Export and create a export file. Then go to your new blog on GoDaddy’s Admin => Manage => Import and choose the file you created in the first place. That brings in all entries, pages and comments.

    Since wordpress.com is using WordPress MU, there is no individual access to the database, so that is the only way to export content short of a program that can access an RSS feed.

    Of course, if you are not going with a wordpress install on GoDaddy and it is another program, you need to find a way to use the pre-mentioned export file.

    If it is another type of blog software, once you export using the file I mentioned above, that is past the realm of what we can help out with :)
