Import did not import all content

from my self-hosted WP i did an export of all my Post content. I then import it to a wordpress.com domain and the import was successful. However the last ‘latest’ post is dated July 2015 even though the export which i did was from 2005- nov 2016.
is there a limitation on the amount of post i can import ? if yes, do you think it is wise to do an export from Year A to Year B and then Year C to Year D ?

What is the size of the XML file?
Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
If yes, what is the URL?If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

right. definitely my mistake for not noticing the 15mb file limit. So i guess the best way is to export the xml-post-only-file into separate file (under 15mb) and import ?

Hi there,
If you split your export up into smaller sections it should work, yes.
Don’t worry about the content you’ve already uploaded. If the importer detects you’re trying to import a post that’s already on the site it will skip that post and only import the ones that are not here yet.
