Import duplication

  • Unknown's avatar

I am creating a new blog and website (wp.com). I have already imported the posts and comments from my existing blog(wp.com). Whilst I have been developing the new site the old blog has attracted more comments, which ideally I want to import onto the new site. Will a second import from the old blog duplicate all of the posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Ron,

Yes, if you import your site again, it will indeed duplicate all of your posts (though our developers are currently improving our import tool, so there’s a small possibility that they could roll that improvement out here any day, but I don’t want to give bad information!).

What you may want to do is have us empty your new blog entirely of posts, comments, and pages. That will allow you to re-import without fear. Customizations such as your theme and settings should stay in place.

Let me know if that’s what you’d like to do and what the URL of your new blog is (starting with http://) and I’ll see what I can do!

    Thanks
I will delete the posts in the new site and then import the current blog
