Import file size too big

  So I am trying to import from another WP blog to wordpress.com. To my understanding, the maximum file size I can upload is 3MB, but the XML file size I exported through my other blog is around 3.76, so the import progress always times out.

  Is there a way to split an export? Or increase the import upload size limit? Also, it imported some of my posts before timing out, so if i were to re-import the same file would I get duplicate posts?

  You need to use the “support” button on the top right hand corner of any admin side blog page on weekdays 9-5 PM and ask for staff help.

  Did you clear out your akismet and spam before creating the export file? Sometimes that decreases the size of it substantially. As well, it is possible to manually break up the file using a text editor. I can see if I can find a thread on that if the “clearing spam” doesn’t help the size.

  My XML file size just about 428KB, It still time out. How can I do?

  I would try it again. It sometimes is tough to accomplish on “peak times”, but it should be fine if you try it again a couple of times.

  Hello there,
  I just wanted to correct the support hours I wrote in above. They have changed to Monday-Friday 8-4PM Pacific time.
