Well now that you’ve moved to a self-hosted WordPress.org site there’s only so much help that I’ll be able to provide. Mostly you’ll need to consult the support forum for WordPress.org right here:

I can however tell you that the kind of following you’re talking about is a function that is primarily for the WordPress.com ecosystem. Once you transfer to WordPress.org, most following is done via email. Since you’ve installed the Jetpack plugin, many of the features which were present in your WordPress.com site can be replicated in your new site, however not all of them will be. You can go through and explore the various features by logging in to your Dashboard and then going to Jetpack.
