Import from a local backup folder

  I had a custom hosted/custom domain wordpress blog which I made a copy of whatever was stored on the server locally on my hard drive. I lost my export file and switched hosting plans. Is there a way I can get to and export/import my previous posts? Thanks.

  Unless you backed up the MySQL database, all your stuff is gone. If you copied all the wordpress files from your install, all you have is the wordpress framework, you do not have any of the posts, pages or comments. All that would have been in the database.

  How would I know if I still have the MySQL database?

  If you just copied the files over via FTP, then you would not have the mysql database. You would have to have either done a “full-backup” via a cPanel or via PHPMyAdmin in order to have the database.
