Import from an existing wordpress self-hosted site fails

  Hi,

  I’m unable to import from my wordpress site because the import fails with an error “There don’t appear to be any authors in your import file.”

  My self hosted site is on an old wordpress version ~5.0.2?
  Any help appreciated? What is the expected format of the import file?

  I have the same problem. The xml seemed to export fine from my old WordPress.org self-hosted blog but when I tried importing it to my new WordPress.com blog I received the message:
  “There don’t appear to be any authors in your import file.
  Try another file or contact support.”
  Did you find a solution?
