Import from Blogger-slower than Mississipi Mud
-
I have been trying to import this blog for 2 days…its now down to the last 2k comments and hung up. Again. nothing, not moving. Its no wonder folks migrating blogs dread the experience when this and all the errors are so pervasive…Anyone got an idea on why this could possibly take so long and/or what could be done to speed the process? (can’t upload xml the file is too large)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There have been other threads on the same subject. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/import-error-importing-from-blogger-to-wordpresscom?replies=15
Staff are not available until August 16th and we Vounteers cannot help with this issue.[Edit: Fixed typo.]

No one can help, and I’m just totally losing respect and interest in wordpress.. I hope matt has a great holiday…grrrrrr

Hi There!
Volunteers can not help because they don’t have access to the back end components But what I will do is modlook this thread to alert staff to this thread since they are monitoring the forums while they’re away…

Thanks slikbonez…its just frustrating that NO ONE FROM THE STAFF is around to help with anyone’s issues..sure the kind volunteers can do what they can..but the rest… its sheerly aggravating and not good for those of us with clients we encouraged to move to Wp.com..#justsayin

We’re here! We are just available in a limited capacity a couple of times during the year when we meet together as a group (i.e. this week).
I’ve emailed you to ask for more information such as: size of the file, exact error message when you tried to import (or did the import just time out?), the blog URL where you are trying to import from, the blog URL you are trying to import to, and an attachment of the file in a reply so we can take a closer look at it.
Feel free to reply here in the forums or via email and we’ll help get everything sorted.

designsimply, thanks for the response.. size of the file? its a blogger import directly from blogger.. the xml is too large to import, so went the direct route.. I’ve responded via email along with the atomxml attached and additional info you requested. Thanks for a timely response to a very frustrated code junkie

thanks for the reply, I’ve pulled my hair out over this task
usually a simple one…the import hung many times, I gave up with 4k
comments left to go…. the import from is tidymomof2.blogspot.com
the import 2 blog is http://1tidy.wordpress.com/(I’m attaching the blogger atomxml which I could not import because of
size.)A second issue I have is I cannot export this blog once imported (if only
partially) i get empty files (again I presume because of size)I’m totally frustrated, not usual state of being for me as i love WP,
highly recommend it to clients, but between the import guffaws at.org,
the time its taken at.com and now the inability to export from .com as
well…its seems I’ve found the weaknesses.. i just need some help
getting the FINISHED import and the EXPORT file from
http://1tidy.wordpress.com/. Can you possibly assist with this?
