Import From Blogger Stopped Working

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been importing my posts from Blogspot for months and a week ago, it stopped working. I get the message,

“Howdy! This importer allows you to import posts and comments from your Blogger account into your WordPress blog.

To use this importer, you must have a Google account and an upgraded (New, was Beta) blog hosted on blogspot.com or a custom domain (not FTP).

The first thing you need to do is tell Blogger to let WordPress access your account. You will be sent back here after providing authorization.”

I click the Authorize button and it just returns me to this message with no way to import. I have done this a dozen times with no success. This was working fine for a long time. Chuck

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

tried import from file and it also does not work. Could use some help here. Chuck

I guess since I can’t get any help, I need to delete the entire blog and look for another platform. This is pretty sad. Chuck

I see a large number of posts on your site at trawlerbeachhouse.wordpress.com. Were you able to get your import working, or are you still having difficulty with this?

  • Unknown's avatar

No it still does not work which is why I came and ask for help. I have tried a dozen times, as I have posted above, and nothing works to import posts. I have not been able to get this to work since the date of the last posting on the blog.

It sounds like you may be having trouble with the automatic Blogger importer tool. I’ve reset your import, and you might try it again using a manual import.

To do that, you will need to fetch your export file from Blogger. Then, in your WordPress.com Dashboard you can go to Tools > Import > Blogger and under “Have a Blogger export file?” find the file on your computer and click on the “Upload file and import” button.

If that still isn’t working for you, if you can upload your Blogger export file to Dropbox or another similar file sharing program, I can try to do an import for you. You can link to that here or contact me via emailwith my name in the subject line and a link to this ticket.

I don’t know if that worked since it accepted the file but does not yet show as imported. But I don’t want to have to export and use the manual import every time. Why has the automatic importer from blogger stopped working?

  • Unknown's avatar

The automatic importer hasn’t stopped working, but the connection to Blogger sometimes doesn’t work.

If I may ask, why are you needing to do multiple imports from Blogger to WordPress.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

Because I maintain both blogs simultaneously. What your telling me is that the connection to blogger has not worked for weeks. I doubt that. And why does the import page on my dashboard not work for me as it is supposed to? And why does the import from a file not work either? Chuck

Hi… similar anwser capnchuck, but if i need import many blog everyday is for a reason: wordpress is much better that blogger.
In blooger is much confortable to work because you can do it from any plataform (Ipad, Blackberry, etc), but WordPress is much strong plataform for internet stats.

Jackiedana, i think is not a good response. Please, solve the problem, because i try export and import, and show error. do nothing

I’m sorry that the automatic importer doesn’t always work for you. We are aware that some users have trouble with that importer, which is why we continue to offer the manual option.

Also, just to let you both know – if you are maintaining duplicate content on both Blogger and WordPress.com, your sites will take a major hit from Google and other search engines that penalize duplicate content.

@davidrosas please let me know which of your blogs you’re having difficulty with, and I can take a look and see if your import has stalled.

@capnchuck I’ve reset the importer for you.

This is the second time you have said you reset the importer for me. It does nothing to resolve my problem. If you can’t help me fix this, just say so and i can move on and find another platform. Chuck

I’m sorry you keep having trouble with your import. While sometimes an import will time out, it’s uncommon for a user to have consistent issues with the importer.

Have you tried the manual process, or are you only trying the automatic one? How large is your export file?

Obviously you did not read my previous posts. This is just not worth the aggravation. I’ll delete the blog and move on. Chuck
