Import from blogger to wordpress.com

    Greetings. I posted a support request last week and well never heard from anyone. I have a client using Blogger. They want to move to self-hosted WordPress. So I’m to recreate the blogs (5 of them).

    I’ve setup a WordPress.com site, http://texasmonthly.wordpress.com/. I go into Manage -> Import. Select Blogger. I go through the steps to authorize access to the blogger site. After the screen refreshes I see the 5 blogs listed. The all indicate zeros for the posts and comments. I click the ‘Import’ button. The screen replies a few minutes late with a popup stating ‘Nothing was imported. Have you already imported the blog.” Here is a screen of the import page. http://screencast.com/t/xvCBJbAg

    I’ve viewed some of the other suggestions like replacing the template on Blogger. But this is not really an option since these are live sites. I’ve also setup my own self-hosted WordPress site and receive the same error when attempting to import.

    And not sure if it matters. The blogger publishes to a remote FTP server. For whatever reason my assumption is the authorizing access via Google should let WordPress access the Blogger engine direct. In other words it shouldn’t matter where the publishing occurs.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I’m looking into switching from Blogger as well. I have the same import problem, though. WordPress importing does not see any content on my Blogger blog.

    You do know that these are two different platforms, right?

    Hi, I have the same problem as texasmonthly too. My import is incomplete. And if I were to try importing again, I get the “Nothing to import” dialog box as well.
    Is there anyone out there that can help (sans sacarsm please).

    Texasmonthly started only one thread here, and that is this one. I suspect that he is confused about the different WordPress platforms, as Vivian has suggested.

    kerwei, are you importing to WordPress.com or to an independent WordPress install? The advice will depend on your answer.
