Import from GoDaddy Quick Blog
-
Had an online chat with Go Daddy about the photo issue…not much good news to report right now, except they’re looking into a solution. Basically, if you have photos in your Go Daddy blog you’d need to export and re-attach the photos to your Word Press blog. In my case it would be many hundreds. I can’t imagine how insanely long the process would take going back and forth between screens deleting and re-attaching photos. They said they would share any solution they come up with with WordPress. But it’s not looking good. What a giant bummer.

I really need a solution and BTW, I’m leaving GoDaddy after 8 years because of this mess. I really want all the money I spent of Quick Blogcast back… this is a major re-do for my business. Any help would be so awesome!!!

Hi @drlaurencielo!
We also really want to get this sorted out so that your images are connected to your sites properly. Our hands are tied until GoDaddy has a solution on their end that includes the image files in their export.
I highly encourage you to contact GoDaddy about this issue!

I just got off the phone with GD tech support. I’m starting today to cut and paste each blog post into WP and then upload the images for each post. After I’m gone with that, I’ll be discontinuing my Website Tonight and Quick Shopping Cart and moving these to WP as well. GoDaddy has lost my business.

Sorry for your trouble drlaurencielo, I’m in the same boat and I’m probably going to take my domain elsewhere too. Above, I described how I exported using the “Moveable Type” import method. It won’t bring your photos (only a link to them), but at least you’ll have your text. You’ll still have to import photos, but at least that will save you some copy paste work.

Okay! I did the method that chicowildcat suggested. And it worked! Thanks!
And because I also read 777mmm comments
“It did oddly load a bunch of spam comments that were not approved comments on the old blog, which I had to manually go in and set as spam. It was a pain but there were few enough to manage.”
I went through my GoDaddy Blogcat posts comments and Deleted all “Spam” and “Pending Approval” comments – there were about 700. That left about 40-50 approved comments. I figured that would take care of the problem that 777mmm had! BUT IT DIDN’T! — Maybe I didn’t wait long enough before I went to the “Post Activities” and select Export? How do I get rid of those unwanted Comments? Now that I have Imported them here – is there any way in undoing it and trying again to see if the all the Deleted Spam and Unwanted Comments are really gone?
And although I go have images – I will have to manually fix those – but out of the 67 total Blog entries I have Imported, a good 20-25 or so have broken
sentences and look
like this. The paragraph is broken
up and is very annoying! Anyway to fix
this? Or will I have to go into
each blog entry
and edit it manually? Thanks in advance for any help is appreciated!
