Import from WIX

  When trying to import from WIX I get an error and ‘unable to reach that address at this time’. I should also note that the import preview page shows an error 403

  Sorry to hear that! We do our best with the import tool, but it sounds like it’s being blocked from their side.

  In a case like this, it’s best if you copy your pages and posts over manually. Here’s what to do:

  • If your Wix site has blog posts, go to https://wordpress.com/post and start copying your content over. If you want to do your best to make sure links keep working, use the same title for each post, same content, same pictures (be sure to add alt text). You can pick whatever layout makes sense for each post, and you can backdate them if you’d like. I recommend adding tags and categories, too. Then publish, and do the next post.
  • For pages (like an about page for example) use https://wordpress.com/page – again, use the same titles and copy your text over. Publish each one as you go.
  • When you’re done copying all of that over, you can pull together the site with your front page settings, a menu, and any style / layout adjustments you like, then connect your domain.
