Import from Wixsite not working

  When typing in the web address of my Wixsite into the import from Wixsite section of WordPress, I am given the error message ‘it looks like we’re unable to reach that website at this time’

  Hi there,

  What is the URL of the Wix site you are wanting to import over? Also, do you have a custom domain connected to your Wix site?

  For instructions on how to transfer your domain away from Wix and to WordPress.com, please visit Wix support page:

  I want to confirm the steps you made so far during the import attempt. You would have to select a new theme from WordPress.com because themes from Wix cannot be imported, but the process is pretty straightforward. Our support page provides step by step instructions on how to transfer your site content:

  Hi,

  The web address of the Wix site I am trying to transfer over is https://https://techmeup.wixsite.com/oldsite1

  The steps I have followed are listed below
  1. Open admin dashboard of existing website
  2. Go to https://wordpress.com/import/braedentech.wordpress.com
  3. Select Wix
  4. Typed in Wix site listed above
  5. Greeted with the error message “It looks like we’re unable to reach that website address at this time. (ID: 07f3a784-a6f9-40b3-91cd-26c73a161db1)”

  Hi there,

  I noticed something odd about the formatting of your site address (it has two “https” in it) but if I visit:

  https://wordpress.com/import/braedentech.wordpress.com

  And then choose the Wix option, then type in this:

  techmeup.wixsite.com/oldsite1
  

  I am able to proceed with the import. If you try that simplified web address without the https formatting are you able to import? You should see a sceenshot of your website (to confirm we have the right site) and then the button to start your import.

  Thanks for the advice, the double “https” would have been a typing error on my part when posting on this forum.

  I have followed your instructions, clicked on the above link (https://wordpress.com/import/braedentech.wordpress.com) and then entered the simplified web address you showed and still no luck, just the same error message.

  Thanks again for completing the import for me, I did actually get it to work finally (without changing anything) about an hour before you posted that. Cheers thanks all for the assistance

  Hello. I am also having trouble importing a Wix site, and keep getting the same same error message.

  I have tried using the domain mane and also the Wix name but still get he same error.

  Please would someone give me some advice?

  I was able to achieve the Wix to WordPress transfer the other day after many attempts / refreshes throughout the day. Didn’t change anything it just worked eventually. And I was also about to do it on the free/basic plan, no need for a paid plan 🙂

  Well, just tried again and it worked a bit!

  Got message import was progressing but when finished only part of first tab imported. No images, document links or other pages.

  Spoke too soon!!!!

  I do have other pages under Pages on side menu. But menu, layout, colors and pictures missing.

  Wix is an entirely different content management system from WordPress, so while we will attempt to import as much of your content as possible, there is some functionality that may not make it over. Since everything won’t transfer over 100%, you’ll need to do a little bit of work to recreate exactly what you had on Wix.

  It does look like you’ve already created a custom menu and are updating things there, so let us know if you still need help. In the interest of keeping this to Wix importing, if you need non-importing help, please open a new thread here:
