  I can’t import from Xanga even though it is an xml file it keeps telling me The file is not an xml file. Please see instructions for downloading and using the Xanga backup file.

  This is a common issue. Try another browser http://browsehappy.com

  NOTE:

  You must open the .zip export folder you get from Xanga and import ALL of the files included in the .zip folder individually.

  My apologies for the delay in getting to this thread. I can see a number of imports into your WordPress.com site. Are you still having issues with your import or is everything working now?
