import from Yahoo 360 and personal website
-
I have an old blog on Yahoo 360 as well as one I created manually on my website. I would like to import both of them to WordPress as one large blog. Can someone help me do that?

Yes, with the Yahoo 360 and standard websites, it will end up being a copy and paste project.

Yes, but what if you have a file larger than 15 MB? I used to write quite a lot on my blog on 360.
-
blondehoneybunny, by writing quite a lot do you mean just text or pictures & videos mixed in? Because just text doesn’t take up that much space unless it’s the size of a novel. Do you know if it is a file larger than 15 MB?

I’m having the same problem as blondehoneybunny. I’ve downloaded my 360 blog as a zip file (318 MB). When I go to import the file, I noticed it says the limit is 15 MB. I know very little about file sizes, but I appear to be way over the 15 MB limit and I’m not able to upload my 360 file. Yes, I used lots of video, pictures, etc. on 360.

You will need to break up the file into multiple smaller file sizes to be able to import it to your WordPress.com blog
-
Any suggestions on how to do that (for people like me who don’t have a clue what they’re doing) I tried a Google search, but geez, wading through techie talk is like swimming upstream. LOL

when I import , it error “Could not unzip your Yahoo! 360 export file. Did you upload the ZIP file? “
can you help me import ?
thanks -
The import file limit is 2MB I think so it can be time consuming on really large files. This is from the wordpress codex and should apply here as well as at .ORG:
Break the WordPress WXR file into smaller pieces by separating the data between posts and pasting the header/footer into each file. 1. Always have the header

including all info like category, tags, etc to just before the first
2. Always have the footer

3. In between, add the posts start with
end with
and check to see whether the XML file you're creating is less than or equal to 2MB. You'll get the hang of it.Note: Do not paste the above and for the header and footer. Each header is going to be unique and you must use the header and footer from YOUR file.

my file size is 4.33 mb but when I try to upload it says:
Could not unzip your Yahoo! 360 export file. Did you upload the ZIP file?
can any one help please

Hi,
If you got this “Could not unzip your Yahoo! 360 export file. Did you upload the ZIP file?”, just try again, next time should be OK :)
For me, I got 1 serious issue, all the image link (<img src=something) are stripped out during the import. Anyone knows how to fix this ?
Thanks

Did you open the export file in a plain text editor and check to see if the links were actually there? I know of another 360 import where the image links came in just fine, but her images were hosted at flickr or somewhere like that.

I managed to figure out this problem:
“Could not unzip your Yahoo! 360 export file. Did you upload the ZIP file? “
You have to extract your ZIP file from Yahoo!360, then select the files and re-zip them…
The main problem is, you cannot have a “folder” inside your zip file… it confuses the WordPress import tool…I tried several times before I realised this solution!
Good luck!

I did this a couple days ago. I didn’t unzip the file before I uploaded it, it was 46mb and it went through ok so the 15mb limit must be a percaution. The first time I tried, it timed out so I did it again and it worked. But when I went in to check, I had duplicates. So much for WordPress being smart and not importing duplicates.
The other issue is that the photos in each blog aren’t showing up. All there is is this: src=”http://reneerox.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/1200977109-hr-165.jpg” I checked and all of the photos uploaded and are in the exact spot as the address indicates, but no photo in the blog. This is what it looks like: http://reneerox.wordpress.com/2008/01/21/roxies-2nd-international-show/
It also added a “” before every apostrophy. Annoying but not something I’m willing to try to fix on that many posts.
I would like to fix the photo issue though so if anyone has any thoughts on how to do that, I would like to hear it.

I have the same issue with photos. Everything uploaded just fine, and I can see the images in my account thingy, but the blog page just has the links (and they aren’t active). How to make the pix appear?
-
Me too on the photo/image problem. My media library shows them well, but the blog just posts an image address–no picture posted. Would love some insight here! Thank you!

We need a link to the blog if you want us to take a look at things. Perhaps better yet a link to a post where this is happening.

@ if this is the blog you are talking about, on this post, Migraines, Lies and the DMV, the link at the top of that post is not a proper HTML image link. What is there is
src=”http://jodiq.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/1243084356-hr-502.jpg”An proper HTML image link looks like this
