import images

    Hello
I imported my wordpress.org site through .xml file, but I can’t figure out how to see the images in every post.
I assume that I need to upload them in media, but what is the next step?
    Thank you kindly,

    Ella

The images are attachments and when you import you are asked if you want to include attachments.

Please do not assume that bumping any thread here brings you support more quickly because it can actually results in the opposite.

Exactly where are you importing from?

Is that site still online? If so post the URL.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you.

  • Hi there,

Is your WordPress.org site still accessible? Many times, images don’t import because your export file contains references to the images, which the importer then tries to fetch. If your WordPress.org site is down, the importer has no way to access the images.

Let me know if that is the case. If you can, you temporarily reactivate your site and process the import again before deactivating the site.

    Thanks!

    Hello
Thank you for the responses. My wordpress site is no longer active, I did all the backups offered by wordpress (db, export, copied all the files by ftp). Then my hosting expired.
I am trying now to set an wordpress.com site.
I am importing the xml file.
I tried to upload all the images in gallery and find/replace in xml, but had no success.
    What can I do?
    Thank you!

  • Hey there,

I know you said you uploaded your images to your media library, but are the images in any way accessible via a host-provided IP based URL Or is it possible for you to provide the files in the same directory structure on Dropbox or a similar temporary host?

We would need you to upload the images to some free image hosting in such a way that only the domain changes but the filenames and paths remain the same as when you back the images up (before uploading them to the media library).

If so, we may be able to import the images for you.

    Thanks!
