Import is not showing, deleted all and unable to upload no php or anything
-
I successfully imported my blogger file but then needed to look into HTML to adjust a font, as it was the only one standing out strange and it bugged me. Didn’t find out how to change it in the editor. It worked but I done that in HTML on the wrong post ;( as I was really tired at this point, I thought the best idea was to delete everything and import new, changing the HTML code in the blogger file already so it is the same as every other.
Since then I am unable to see my import, I have read some trouble shooting but I am just self hosting and know nothing about php! I can read a bit of html and know a bot of xml. is there a way to reset all this? is it because i have uploaded multiple times? it tells me every time that it has been accepted and then nothing, not on pages, on the blog or anywhere, no error messages so i have no idea where i went wrong of how to solve this. HELP PLEASE :)

Are you using this guide?
Coming from Blogger? https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-blogger/What is the size of the XML file, please?
Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
If yes, what is the URL?Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.
I tagged this thread with modlook for Staff help for you. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

hi time thief,
thanks for your help, below hopefully the answers to all questions:
yes I read the guide, it is handy but doesn’t help with this specific issue
yes I’m coming from blogger
the file is about 446kb big or tiny ;)
yes the site is still live and kicking on http://foodwizardryrecipes.blogspot.co.uk
I am usure if it is worth mentioning but I have tried to import a few times and there was no issue but all my pics duplicated another reason I thought it was OK to delete all and start over.
also checked today first thing if anything happened, no joy,…oh yeah and the site I want to import to is foodwizardryrecipes, not the one I posted from previously…
subscribed and waiting for more info.
thank you for taking the time to help

Hi there,
oh yeah and the site I want to import to is foodwizardryrecipes, not the one I posted from previously…
What is the full URL of the site you need help with? You also mentioned earlier that you are self-hosting. We want to make sure that you are getting help from the correct support forum. Thanks.

the site address is http://foodwizardryrecipes.blogspot.co.uk is where the content sits.
I want the content to go to
https://foodwizardryrecipes.wordpress.comI think I am self hosting. I have my own website name which I haven’t linked to wp yet. does this make me self hosting? I found a thread about this previously and it was all about self or not hosting. to be honest I took a wild guess on that. I am doing all myself for now.
hope that helps?
thank you for taking the time to help

Hi again, https://foodwizardryrecipes.wordpress.com is a site hosted on WordPressdotcom so not self-hosted even when you connect your own domain name to it via the mapping upgrade included in one of the paid Plans. You can learn more about that here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Let’s wait now for Staff to clear out the old import file so you can try again.
Meantime, you might want to read this Support doc which help explains the differences between standalone WP and WordPressdotcom https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

thanks a bunch justjennifer:)
I will be reading through your company vs org to get a better idea. I aim to get a paid plan eventually justhe try to learn and do as much of it myself as I need to save up first :)
thanks again for your help

Hi there,
It looks like you’ve exported the wrong file from Blogger.
Blogger allows you to export your content as an XML, but it also allows you to export your theme as an XML, and the file you’ve been trying to import is the latter.
Please make a new export in Blogger, and make sure you select the Backup Content option and not the Template option:
https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/41387?hl=en&rd=1
Let me know if you need any more help with this.

hello there
I have done it with the xml file. only the posts transferred and not the theme. I have double checked this morning as well….
it worked before and I haven’t done anything different the following times…
any thoughts on my conundrum?
cheers
Catherine

I checked the actual file you’ve been trying to import via your site’s logs, and that file contains your site’s CSS, not its content. File name blog-09-04-2016.xml
I also don’t see any import attempts from this morning. The last showing in your site’s logs was yesterday. Please try making a new export from Blogger as I suggested and try importing it again. Let me know if it fails again.

I have just tried again a couple times bit still unsuccessfull.
I went to settings – other – Import & back up – back up content
I have done nothing different to any other time. I even to be sure removed the text to the blog that originally caused a problem.
Nothing, sorry to be a pain but i have no idea how to solve this.
Do i have to modify my xml file?thanks for your help

You are trying to import to https://foodwizardryrecipes.wordpress.com/, correct? I don’t see any import attempts on that site since yesterday.
I’ve sent an email to the address connected to your account. Please reply sending your latest export file from Blogger as an attachment.
