import issues
-
I’m trying to archive some things from my existing wordpress blog to a new wordpress blog. I uploaded the 14 import files, but it doesn’t match. The % used is lower, the appearance and headers are different and I’m not sure what else. I can’t see which .xml files were uploaded to know if I missed one. Also, once the new site does match, how can I bulk delete from the other site? Can I only remove images 20 at a time for instance?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
From what site are you exporting the content, and to what site are you importing it?
The % used is lower
Media files are not included in the export file, but are only imported later, so media files can still be busy transferring after you’ve received the notification that the import had completed. So please DO NOT delete any media files from the source site until you are sure all your files have made it across.
the appearance and headers are different
The export file contains ONLY your content, i.e. posts, pages and comments. Your theme customizations, featured images on the posts, and site settings are not imported. Those you need to set up again manually on the new site.
Can I only remove images 20 at a time for instance?
You can bulk-delete images from the media library in the WP-Admin dashboard, but please don’t do that until you’re sure your images have been transferred, as I said above.

Hello,
I’m moving from thegilliamfamily.wordpress.com to collinandseth.wordpress.com.
Thank you! I’ll wait a few more days about the %.
Thank you! I’ll set up the customizations.
Thank you! I’ll wait to delete.

Right, I checked the importer on your site and it didn’t stall on any of the import files. I can also confirm that all 14 files have been imported.
Your media library use for the import site is now at 89%, and it looks like that site has about 1500 fewer files than the source site. Did you export ALL the content of the source site or only some?
Given the amount of media files on the site, it’s reasonable that the images might still be in transit, but if it hasn’t completed by tomorrow, let me know and I can ask a developer to take a look after the weekend.

Hello again,
I checked and it looks like nothing has changed. I thought I had exported it all. Should I do the exports separately (posts, pages, media)?
-
I said tomorrow, not two weeks :)
Please don’t try exporting again. We should be able to fix this from our end, but I’ll need a developer to take a look. I’ll let you know once I hear back from them. Keep in mind as it’s Friday it might not be until next week.

Okay, we’ve been able to import most of your images and fix the links so they’re pointing to the new site’s media library. But for three of your posts we were not able to import the images, as it appears they no longer exist on your old site.
These are the posts:
https://wordpress.com/post/collinandseth.wordpress.com/10903
https://wordpress.com/post/collinandseth.wordpress.com/15971
https://wordpress.com/post/collinandseth.wordpress.com/18000
You’ll need to re-upload the images for those posts manually. And if you spot any other post with missing images or images linking to the wrong site, let me know.
If you want to bulk-delete images from the old site, you can do it here:
https://thegilliamfamily.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php
Please note that the moment you delete an image from the library, it will also disappear from the post where it has been added.

Haha, I know, a day or two turns into two weeks too quickly.
Thank you! I’ll fix those posts.
