Import more than 3MB

    Does anybody have an idea how I coul best import an 11 MB file from standard WordPress installation? The maximum filesize at WordPress.com is set to 3mb.

    First be totally sure the import has no stats in it at all, no bad-behaviour information or anything else.
    Open the file in something like jujedit (windows, freeware). Don’t use Notepad. It’s useless. Don’t use anything use – just jujuedit. http://www.jujusoft.com/jujuedit/

    Split the file into 2mb chunks.

    Split by saving out parts between opening and closing tags. So

    You would split between them.

    Save EVERYTHING. Make a copy of the original file – essential.

    Takes a few minutes but it’s very doable. I had a 60mb file a while ago but it all went in perfectly.
