Import not showing posts in their categories

I’m redoing my dot com site (now set to private, to aid some visitors who don’t have a dot org account but still might like to comment) and just finished a major import from Dot Org. That went fine…except…NONE of my posts are categorized over here, they all show “Uncategorized” even though my list of categories is fully intact. Why did this happen, and can I fix it without a massive overhaul (not a good option given my time constraints)?
Also I had a lot of nextpage tags for my longer posts, which have been working great. BUT…they are nowhere to be seen here, after the import! Evidently the old versions of posts here are not being overwritten with newer, better versions as they ought to have been.
Advice would be much appreciated!

You will have to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

An update: I’m back, tried the same approach with an old version of my blog, also set on private (need those test grounds to make my messes, LOL), and…no joy, I got the exact same result: all my imported posts are now Uncategorized even though I have a category tree (although not as neatly arranged as my OTHER test blog, I have two of them now). And, my import this time didn’t even bring all of my posts in; there should have been about ten more but those are missing…
I contacted Support as advised, but it’s been a week and still no response other than “we will get back to you ASAP.” Maybe they’re just getting swamped or something…which wouldn’t surprise me!

As you might have guessed, ‘wildwanderingrrl’ and ‘honeybunch’ are the same person, I guess I have multiple personalities…LOL

I don’t know why Staff have not responded to your support request yet but I do know they are backlogged. Volunteers cannot help with export.import issues; only Staff can. I’ll flag this thread for Staff attention.

Thanks and hats off! That might help to get their attention. Since this has become an annoying prob which may just possibly show up for other WP users…
