Import of blog.com xml

  Hi, I had a blog.com account and managed to download the xml before it died. Can import it into my wordpress.com blog so it is visible (preferably in date order)?

  If so how do I do it. I see there are instructions to blogger and other formats but I cannot see one for blog.com type xmls.

  Hi there,

  Go to Tools → Import, if there is not an importing tool for your particular platform, you will need to try and convert it into one of the accepted formats so that you can use the proper importer. This means you first convert your blog to one of the services mentioned above (such as Blogger), and then import your blog from Blogger to WordPress.com.

  Howdy! This importer allows you to import posts and comments from an export of your Blogger account into your WordPress blog.

  You can grab an export of your blog data from Blogger then upload that file here.

  This Blogger support page explains how to export the file you need.

  Your file has been successfully uploaded. We will begin processing your import right away.

  I’ll see how long it takes and come back.

  It’s been a couple of hours and the posts have not appeared on my wordpress so I guess it didn’t import.

  Howdy –

  I will be happy to get this straightened around for you. First, I want to make sure I am understanding the issue. It sounds like you’re trying to import a previous Blogger site in to WordPress.com?

  Here are the instructions to do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-blogger/

  Was there an error message or did the import stall?

  What is the site address of the exported site and the site where the content is to be imported? Those details will help me. Thanks!

  Hi,

  It was a blog.com site which I exported to xml.

  I tried the import once before and the “old” items never appeared.

  I followed the instructions again today and imported but the “old” blog.com posts have not appeared on the wordpress.

  The original site was spottingby03179.blog.com (blog.com is down almost permanently) and is to be imported to partimespotter.wordpress.com

  There was no error and the only info back I got was in the quoted text above.

  To the best of my knowledge, blog.com was running WP, so you might try the WordPress importer.

  However, since the blog.com site is no longer active and online (sadly for many folks) I’m almost sure that your media files are going to be an issue.

  I have the images stored on old HDD so it’s not a problem. I could try the wordpress importer.

  Well I’ll go to the foot of our stairs!!!!!!

  Looks like it is working, Asked if I wanted to reassign the posts to my current profile and looks like it is importing :)
