Import of content taking over 2 days?

I am moving from a self-hosted wordpress blog to wordpress.com. I started to import the content over 2 days ago, and the import page still says the import is not complete. The xml file to import is about 18MB in size and there are a bunch of images, but not a ton. How long will the import really take?

Hi robdiana,
Imports shouldn’t take longer than 24 hours and are often quicker than that. It looks like the importer on regulargeek72.wordpress.com stalled during the import process so I’ve reset it for you, ready to try again.
The xml file to import is about 18MB in size
15MB is the maximum support file size for imports so I recommend exporting subsets of content such as posts, pages and media — these individual .xml files can then be imported one by one. It would also be worth deleting any spam comments before exporting to .xml because they can increase the file size.

Thank you! I am now making some progress. I imported pages, contact forms and media so far. I am currently importing 10MB of content, so we will see how that goes.

Hi there, it had stalled. Can you try going to the following link and do the import from there instead of through the other interface?
