Import problems
-
Several days ago I tried importing from my self hosted WordPress blog to my WordPress.com blog because I am planning on getting rid of my host to save some money and have my domain redirect to my WordPress.com blog. Unfortunately it is still importing and nothing new is showing up. I think that it’s because I chose it export everything from 2007 to now. It’s taking too long and I will be charged for a new month of hosting soon and I would like to speed up the process. I’ve exported the posts by year to make it go faster, if that’s even possible. I would like someone to please halt the importing process or at least see if there is a way for it to finish? It said that if I don’t hear from WordPress in 24 hours to contact them. I think it’s been 3 days…

Hi there,
Sometimes the importer gets stuck. This thread is tagged for Staff to reset it for you. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. -
Hi @xanapus, I’ve reset your importer. One thing we see sometimes with older blogs is lots of unapproved-but-not-deleted spam comments. If you have those, clear them out before creating another import and it should be alright :)
If you need more help, though, let us know; we can try importing from our end.

Thank you so much. I have imported the blog posts by year so they will be smaller files. The one I tried importing was over 16mb and I think it said it had to be under 15mb. I imported them by year from 2007 to 2015, so the files are much smaller now. I will try it again now. Thanks again.

I imported 2015 and it was successful, but it didn’t import any of the pictures. I checked and they are using the pictures from my host. Will I have to fix all of those manually?

Velda did you get my email responses? I tried attaching the zip file with all of the xml files. I exported year by year. I wasn’t sure if you got it so I put the files in Google Drive and sent another email with the link.
