Import process taking a long time

I am importing content from my self-hosted WordPress site onto a free WordPress.com site. I imported multiple of my .xml files with no issue (each one taking less than 10 minutes). I began uploading another of the files and it has now been processing for almost 4 days. How can I fix this and continue the import process (I still have about 5 more files left) so that I can cancel my hosting on the other site asap?

Hi –
I will clear out that stalled import. It shouldn’t ever take longer than 24 hours. Could you confirm which site this is on?

Perfect. Thanks for sharing. I have deleted the most recent import attempt. Go ahead and try again. Let’s see if that did the trick.

Thank you! That did work, but I am now waiting on a file to upload. It has been almost 5 hours.

I am using .xml files and they are all around 13-15MB. I am attempting to move the content from my self hosted site to a free wordpress.com site so that I can cancel my hosting (no longer blogging).

It can take some time, but shouldn’t take more than 24 hours. Let me know once we reach the 24 hour mark with this second attempt.
