Import process – too long

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m trying to import WordPress from one location (mydomain.blog.onet.pl) to another (mydomain.wordpress.com) via .xml file but the import process takes too long – three days or maybe more. I can not see any progress. After starting the process, I can not stop it now.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @czeslawbrudek,

    I have tagged this thread with “modlook” to ensure the wonderful WordPress staff are notified and are able to further assist you.

    In the meantime, would you mind answering the following questions so they are better able to understand what is happening during your import:

    1. How large is the .xml file you are attempting to import?
    2. What WordPress version was your prior site running on?
    3. Did you receive any error messages? If so, can you please include what the message was?
    4. Is your prior WordPress site still online?
    5. What is the URL that you are trying to export and import into your WordPress.com site?

    Thank you in advance for your replies and for your patience as staff look into your account :)

    Cheers!

    Hi czeslawbrudek,

    It looks like the importer on tatulowyblog.wordpress.com stalled during the import process. I’ve reset it so you can try running the import again.

    Let me know how you get on.

    Hi okanagancreativedesigns,
    1. =40MB, 2. 3.8.15, 3. nothing, 4. yes, 5. hmm?

    Hi gemmacevans,
    I will try to export blog from first place in two parts: posts, pages and will import them again as two parts. My previous file contained pages and posts together.

    Hi gemmacevans,
    I checked the status – it is still unchanged, it shows as busy

    Hi czeslawbrudek,

    1. =40MB

    The maximum supported import size is 15MB, so several smaller .xml files will need to be exported from your WordPress.org site before trying again.

    I checked the status – it is still unchanged, it shows as busy

    The spinner being displayed without an active import, is a known issue we are look into at the moment.

    Please try logging out of your account and back in again. If that doesn’t help, are you able to import the smaller .xml files through your WP Admin dashboard? This link will take you through to the importer:

    Hi gemmacevans,
    would you be so nice and help me in one more matter?
    I need help why it happens when I post on tatulowe.wordpress.com I still switch to tatulowyblog.wordpress.com – I do not want this

    Hi gemmacevans,
    I managed to remove the tatokowyblog page and I’m already logged in to tatulowe everything works very well. It was my error related to the cache. If you can please reset spinner on your side to allow me to import.

  • Okay, I’ve reset the importer on tatulowe.wordpress.com.

    I see you’ve deleted the other site. Let us know if you need any more help with the import on this site.

    Hi kokkieh,
    Thank you.
    You’re right. I removed the previous page to have access to only one domain. I started importing. If the import process will take longer I will definitely let you know.
