Import Processing

Is this will be always there? I mean, every time I import posts will asks me to choose one of the two authors, me and you?
I want to keep to of them. But right now I want to delete (permanently) this one:
http://josparda.wordpress.com
But I am not sure if I can do it in correct way.BTW, the secondary blogs always slow/heavy to loading dashboards, editing and moving selected posts to the trash. Is this fine?
Thank you.
-
No, just chose to replace me with a different author while importing and I’ll be gone. :)
You can delete the other blog following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
-
* Nope! It still asking me to do this:
“To make it easier for you to edit and save the imported content, you may want to reassign the author of the imported item to an existing user of this site. For example, you may want to import all the entries as admins entries.”
Even I choose my name: FJA AbdulAmeer (tulipmania), the next proccess ask again and again.James (macmanx)
or assign posts to an existing user: choose/select
FJA AbdulAmeer (tulipmania)
or assign posts to an existing user: choose/select* I did it! I delete the secondary blog in peace.
Thank you.
-
Yes, each time you import, you need to choose to assign the posts to someone other than macmanx.
-
I don’t understand. You just looked at my blog’s dashboard to solve the last problem. Why should this step comes every time I need to import some posts, and you are not really existent as an author?
Is there a solution to avoid that new step?
Thank you.
-
It should only need to be done with the import.
Did you finish the previous import? If so, do you mean that you are attempting to do further imports?
-
Yes, I did. And yes, for some personal reasons, I use to transfer some posts from time to time, from the main blog to the secondary one.
The selection step is an extra strange step for me.
Can you fix it, please?
Regard,
FJA -
Try selecting just the current month that you want to move.
This will both remove me from the import list and save you time with the import.
-
Hello again.
I tried to import posts from August, 2 posts, but it still asks me to (reassign the author) and the past problem came again (We are sorry, but there was an error while performing your blog import) with (We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done).
I don’t know what happening in wordpress!

Is there any body could tell me if it is a normal/common importing problem in WP.com or only me have this problem???
I appreciate “macmanx” latest help, but it’s one week now, and no one help after or even answer me here. Is this a BIG problem that no one can help?
Could someone help, please?

Hi there, I don’t see a pending import on your tulipmania.wordpress.com blog. Are you trying to complete an import into another blog, and if so, could you please let me know the name of the blog and from what other platform you are trying to import? I’ll gladly help you to sort out the import process.
-
Hi Jenia!
I’ll start from the beginning.I wrote in this topic the main problem I had with my two blogs,
Tulipmania.wordpress.com (main)
and
Fjaa.wordpress.com (secondary blog with the importing problem) :
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/import-processingBefore 20 July until know, 5 Sept, the main problem does not changed:
Processing…
We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.Mr.Macmanx [James] tried to help me but another problem appeared, It added him as an author and every time I import some posts from one blog to another:
To make it easier for you to edit and save the imported content, you may want to reassign the author of the imported item to an existing user of this site. For example, you may want to import all the entries as admins entries.

or assign posts to an existing user: choose/select
FJA AbdulAmeer (tulipmania)
or assign posts to an existing user: choose/selectEven I choose my name: FJA AbdulAmeer (tulipmania), the next time I make new importing task; it asks again and again to reassign.
I found the reason, that in every “exporting” task, the exported files hold every one as authors inside it, then simply transferring them to the 2nd blog.
Now, since 8 Aug, the importing process seems it does not want to end!
I want to know two things, please:
1- Importing process problem, came from where and why?
2- Why the exported files store every one tried to fix the above problem?I hope you understand my story!
Thank you to all.Regards,

FJA, let’s try to find solutions for you one-by-one.
It looks like you are trying to do an WordPress import into https://fjaa.wordpress.com – is that correct? I checked it and indeed, the import stalled, so I reset it. Could you please try importing again and giving it 24 hours, and let me know if it works for you?
Regarding the additional authors on your blog. Are you attempting to export the contents of https://tulipmania.wordpress.com and re-import them into https://fjaa.wordpress.com, is that when the “macmanx” username shows up when you attempt to import? As James previously said, you can simply assign all posts to yourself, but we can also look into removing that username for you.

Hi Jenia.

OK! I did what you told me to do and no need to waiting to the next 24 hours. I had an email while writing: “Your WordPress import was successful.”
Yes, that’s what I was doing long time ago, export “some” contents of (tulipmania) and re-import them into (fjaa), to rearrange my posts in particular way. I did assign all posts to my self but when I tried to do another importing task it’s ask me again to reassign an author. As like this time:
It looks that any exported posts from (tulipmania) should hold every user name who entered or passed on it. That’s happened to me with the new blog I have made later.
You are the experts here. I need a faster and an easier way, if you could to do, I’ll be appreciated for you.Thank you.
FJA -
I am glad that I was able to help you to complete the import, and sorry that it took longer than expected to reset your import because of miscommunication.
Regarding the Staff users showing up as “authors” when you perform the import. I understand how it can be confusing to choose every time the author mapping. It’s not something I’m able to fix for you right away, unfortunately. We’ll be looking into sorting it out for you so that the additional users don’t appear, and we’ll update this thread once we have news.
Thank you for following up on this thread to clarify the issues you’ve been running into, and good luck with your blogs!

Hi FJA, this has a fix now. If you have time, it would be great if you could test the importer again and let us know if the problem with non-existing authors has disappeared. Thanks for reporting it and for your patience!
