Import RSS 2.0 File?

GoDaddy is shutting down their Quick Blogcast feature. They recommend WordPress, of course. But their tutorial to export and import to WP involved saving the existing blog as RSS 2.0, and letting WP import that file. But “RSS” is not an import option I can locate.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It isn’t possible to import an RSS feed here on WordPress.com.

When GoDaddy says “WordPress” it is most likely they are talking about the standalone WordPress software. Please read this about the differences between WordPress.com and standalone WordPress http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you want to be able to upload audio files to your WordPress.com website, you’ll need to purchase the Space Upgrade to do so and I recommend that you read everything about podcasting both here in the forums and also the support documentation.

I discovered how to get my meager GoDaddy Quick Blogcast exported/imported successfully. In one’s GoDaddy account, go to Quick Blogcast, Manage Account. Select “Export Entries” from the “Manage Blog” menu. Select which things you’d like to export (entries, categories, comments, trackbacks) and hit “Export.” This will produce a plain text file.

Then log into WordPress as admin, Tools, Import, and select “Movable Type and TypePad.” Upload the text file you got from the GoDaddy export. It may prompt you to either create a new WordPress user for the imported posts or attribute them to an existing user, your choice.

    THANK YOU for your reply!
