Import site from a third

    Dear Forum,

I recently opened a new WordPress account. I am attempting to transfer (import) my website from a third-party platform not listed in the guide. The domain is squarespace.

I have already begun transferring the website from the third-party platform. The platform has notified me that they will extract my website and email me the GZip file and WordPress administrator credentials within 10 business days.

What do I need to be doing or what actions should I be taking in the meantime at my WordPress account to prepare to complete the importing of my website at WordPress. Thank You.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While you wait for the Gzip file from your extraction service, your primary task is to ensure your WordPress.com environment is configured to receive the data without conflicts or broken links. First, match your Permalink structure under Settings > Permalinks to match your Squarespace URLs (usually the “Post name” option) to prevent SEO errors once the site goes live. Since the service is providing a full site backup, you should also clean up your new account by deleting placeholder posts and pages to ensure a clean “landing” for your imported content. Crucially, because a Gzip file often requires a plugin like All-in-One WP Migration to restore, you should verify that your WordPress.com plan allows for plugin installations; if you are on a lower-tier plan that doesn’t support plugins, you may need to ask the service to provide a standard XML (WXR) file instead, which can be uploaded through the default Tools > Import menu.
