import site from Webs.com?
-
I am considering making WordPress the web host for my small business site which is currently on Webs.com but I would prefer not to have to rebuild the site from scratch. Is there a way to import the current site from Webs.com to WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I see someone helped you when you asked this question last year at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/migrate-site-from-webscom/ Did you see that reply?
I don’t think the current import options are any different than those @timethief mentioned in her reply, unless Webs.com now offers an XML exporter.
The available imports are listed here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/ and I don’t see that Webs.com is specifically listed, so it would likely fall under the guide at https://transferto.wordpress.com/drag-and-drophtml-site-builders/
It doesn’t look like an easy transfer from Webs.com and the only content you would be importing are any posts and pages that you currently have. Sorry for no better news.

And just to make sure, you don’t mention which “flavor” of WordPress you mean, so let me point you to this support guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ which give more info on the differences between WordPress.com (where we are) and the standalone WordPress software. That may help you make a more informed decision about which “WordPress” is the best for your needs.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

To clarify: I would be interested in WordPress.com Premium plan ($8/month). I’d also like to transfer domain hosting for my current custom domain to WordPress.
I’ve looked at the import guide for Drag and Drop/HTML Site Builders:
Drag and Drop/HTML Site Builder | Transfer to WordPressMy understanding is that I will be able to salvage some, but not all, of my current site’s page content (i.e. photos and text), but not its full formatting. Is that correct?

Hi showhowllc –
I’ll be happy to help out. First, can you tell me the site URL with Webs.com? I’d like to have a look and see what formatting you’re referring to.
